Weissmies 4017 m.a.s.l. – our “Hausberg”

Normal route (orange)

From the Almagellerhütte up to Zwischbergenpass, from the pass in a gentle slope towards the snowfield. Leave it in the lower part on the left and climb the south ridge to the pre-summit in easy climbing. Continue across snow to the summit.

If you like climbing and wish not to get into snow till the pre-summit you can go directly after the Zwischbergenpass on the south ridge. To do so you have to go around the red and white “towers”.

Height difference: 1’123m

Time: 4h

Rotgrat – insiders’ tip (yellow)

From the Almagellerhütte follow the yellow marking to the Rottal and continue until you reach the start of the climbing. Go to the ridge and follow this on rock slabs and later on snow. At the end follow the normal route from Hohsaas up to the summit.

This route was marked and set up by the SAC Niesen. This is also a possibility to make a slightly different crossing of the Weissmies. Especially in warm summers, this is a nice way to avoid the descent via the active Trift Glacier to Hohsaas.

Height difference: 1’123m

Time: 5h
